Background

After graduating with a degree in design from Newport College of art in 1996, Louise established her own practice as a 2D visual artist, working out of a studio at Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre. She also began working for community arts organisation The Pioneers in Cardiff. This has given her considerable experience working with schools and community groups on large-scale residency projects involving mosaics, ceramics and stained glass. As a freelance artist and tutor Louise also worked with a mental health charity for 8 years.

Louise led creative after school clubs for Newport County Borough Council and worked as an adult education tutor for formal education projects and out of school activities for young people for 7 years. She has since moved to her current post as Senior Education Officer with the council, where she is responsible for developing and delivering all aspects of the learning programme.

Louise has experience of working with adults and young people of all abilities, including adults living with Dementia and SEN pupils of all ages. She is also an area representative for ENGAGE, a lead advocacy and training network for gallery education.
