The Arts and Education Network: South East Wales is one of four regional networks funded by Arts Council Wales in partnership with Welsh Government. We operate in the region of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen. Everything we provide is free of charge to our audience of teachers, artists working in schools, and organisations with an educational offer.

The network:

  1. Organises a programme of high quality professional development for teachers, artists, and organisations,
  2. Creates digital and face-to-face networking opportunities for those in the arts and education sectors,
  3. Connects schools with artists and arts, creative, cultural and heritage organisations, acting as a broker,
  4. Collects information on the regional arts offer and publicises examples of best practice,
  5. Delivers an Arts Champions programme – a team of arts mentors who can support teachers developing arts projects.

Our ethos:

We want to support opportunities for experimentation and innovation and provide a safe space for ideas and relationships to develop.

The network is open, inclusive and gives voice and opportunity for conversation between a diverse group of educators, artists, organisations and agencies. A core set of values underpins the programme, approach and operation of the network.

The four values that underpin the Arts and Education Network: South East Wales are:

Sharing ideas, resources and information is vital to our success

Recognising the needs, expertise and aspirations of our members

Respect, openness and transparency

Encouraging imaginative and creative approaches to projects
